Dig deeper into a chosen area of work or study. Gain new insights and connect with local experts in the field. Have an unforgettable experience.

Puentes is always eager to imagine, design, plan, and execute faculty-led, semester-embedded, and consulting programs in Argentina or Uruguay in a highly customizable manner. Our programs are created in conjunction with high school, university, or other institutional departments.  We work closely with our partners in order to seamlessly integrate Puentes and our services, as well as to implement a cohesive and turnkey solution to meet – or better yet, exceed – your expectations. We have a deep understanding of the needs, interests, and energies of undergraduate students and young professionals.  Furthermore, our multicultural team members are experts in the particularities, dynamics, and day-to-day workings of Argentina and Uruguay.

These types of immersive trip programs typically range from 7 to 21 days. They may be standalone international travel experiences, or they might be travel embedded in a semester course. The travel can take place during any time of the year, with many such programs happening over spring break, Maymester, summer break, fall break, winter break, or January term. The Puentes team can fully manage the on-site portion of the program, and we can also accommodate the participation of travelling faculty and/or staff during the in-country programming.

Guiding Theme

Many programs have an academic or professional theme, to give focus, depth, and impact to the participants’ experience, while comparing and contrasting Argentina or Uruguay with the partner’s home country.

Cultural Activities

Diverse cultural activities allow participants to become immersed in the local culture during the short yet intensive program. The activities are carefully curated to complement and encapsulate the program’s theme.

Professional Immersion

Programs may include company visits, professionally themed seminars, and/or consulting projects to provide the students with insights and perspectives on doing business in Argentina and Uruguay.

Looking back I can’t sum up this trip in such a short reflection. No words will do it total justice. A week away from home with seven other New Zealanders and four Argentine students seemed daunting leading up to take off but now I’m home, I wish I could start it again. On a personal level, I feel like my leadership, collaboration and resilience skills have immensely benefited from this trip. Never before have I been left in a room with two other teammates (collaboration), given six hours (resilience) and told to produce a market entry strategy pitch that would be presented in front of three judges at the end of the day (leadership). I am so grateful for the opportunity to improve my interpersonal skills, develop my business acumen and increase my global connections. Words can’t describe how thankful I am towards Puentes Abroad for ensuring our adventure while on the ground in Argentina was effortless.

Immersive Trip Locations

Program locations can be single-city or multi-city, depending on the institution’s objectives and desired inclusions.

Argentina

With stunning landscapes, intense personalities and passions, and talented professionals across numerous industries, Argentina offers deep immersion in Spanish, rich intellectual life, and a vibrant urban scene, making it both academically and personally rewarding. The country’s diverse geography and regional economies—from Buenos Aires to wine regions, Patagonia, and the Andes—allow students to learn by engaging directly with the local environment, culture, economy, and community. Some popular immersive trip locations in the country include, but are not limited to:

Buenos Aires

  • Buenos Aires offers a rare mix of academic depth, cultural intensity, and real-world relevance in one of Latin America’s most influential cities. Home to high-quality universities and research institutions, with strengths in business, social sciences, law, engineering, medicine, and the arts, Buenos Aires functions as a living laboratory for studying politics, economics, urban development, culture, and international relations in a major global capital. The city is more than just a study destination — it’s a global academic hub with broad sectoral strength, from business & tech, medicine & health sciences, to arts & social sciences. Its universities are well-ranked, culturally immersive, and widely internationalized, making it an exciting choice for a wide range of study-abroad interests.

Mendoza

  • Mendoza offers a unique combination of specialized academics, hands-on learning, and high quality of life in a setting very different from a large capital city. This region of Argentina is most known for its viticulture & enology, agricultural & food sciences, and tourism & hospitality industries, making it an ideal program location for wine production science, vineyard business & management, sustainable agriculture, agri-business innovation, wine tourism, and hospitality management.

San Carlos de Bariloche

  • Bariloche offers a distinctive blend of academic strength, scientific research, and natural-environment opportunities. This makes it quite different from larger urban hubs in the country — the academic and vocational sectors here are shaped by unique geography, economy, and research institutions. This region of Argentina especially appeals to students interested in the areas of physics & engineering research, environmental & earth sciences, sustainable tourism, and outdoor recreation management. It’s a place where academic learning and real-world environmental engagement go hand in hand.

Uruguay

Uruguay is a small, stable country in South America known for its strong democratic institutions, high quality of life, and social progress. Located between Argentina and Brazil, it has a largely urban population and a strong tradition of public education, social welfare, and civil liberties. Its economy is based on agriculture, renewable energy, and technology. The country offers an attractive study abroad destination for students interested in democratic governance, social policy, and sustainability within a stable and high-quality living environment. Overall, Uruguay appeals to students seeking a serious academic experience and deep engagement with Latin American society rather than a fast-paced megacity. Some popular immersive trip locations in the country include, but are not limited to:

Montevideo

  • Montevideo offers a serious academic environment, political stability, and deep cultural immersion in one of Latin America’s most livable capitals. The city is known for its strong public institutions, progressive laws, and leadership in renewable energy, making it an excellent case study for entrepreneurship, public policy, law, and development studies. Montevideo combines coastal living with rich cultural life without the intensity of larger global cities. For students seeking thoughtful study and meaningful engagement with Latin American society, Montevideo is an excellent choice.

Carmelo

  • Carmelo offers a highly immersive, small-scale, and experiential learning environment that is very different from a major city. The region is ideal for students interested in Spanish language immersion, sustainability, rural development, agriculture, and community-based studies. Because it is a small town, students interact daily with locals, which accelerates language learning and cultural understanding in ways that are hard to achieve in larger cities.

Puentes also has experience coordinating and implementing immersive trips in the greater Southern Cone region, including Chile.

EXPLORe OTHER POSSIBLE DESTINATIONS for programming:

This two-week program in Argentina and Chile was the most formative and immersive experience I’ve had to date. I learned so much about global business and cross-cultural communication through engaging company visits and cultural activities. Because of the amazing team at Puentes Abroad, I was able to meet so many amazing people in so many unique locations, and I couldn’t be more grateful for this experience.

Fisher Global Consulting program

with The Ohio State University

in Bariloche, Argentina, and Buenos Aires, Argentina

The Ohio State University’s Fisher Global Consulting program is designed to develop undergraduate students’ problem-solving abilities by managing a global consulting project with a team of Ohio State students in a 2 to 3 week micro-placement in May.  The FGC: Corporate track in Buenos Aires, Argentina, hosts students with for-profit companies, and the FGC: Non-Profit track in Bariloche, Argentina, hosts students with not-for-profit organizations.

For the FGC programs, Puentes carefully selects, vets, and prepares local host organizations and companies and collaborates with them on designing the consulting projects that the OSU students will undertake during the program.  Puentes provides pre-departure support and resources to the students, including a pre-departure webinar, and facilitates Discovery Calls between each OSU student consulting team and their host company prior to arrival.  When in Argentina, Puentes manages the housing in apart-hotels, airport transfers, local cultural activities, welcome meal and farewell meal, a day trip, consulting project oversight, and 24/7 emergency and general support for students.  The students are not accompanied by OSU faculty, so Puentes is the sole on-site coordinator for the experience.

This undergraduate seminar compared the evolution of relations between States and Indigenous peoples and movements throughout the Americas, with a particular focus on the Mapuche people of the Patagonia region of Argentina. The main goal of the course was to comparatively study the organization of Indigenous communities and analyze their political demands through planned and coordinated community visits, lectures, and interviews.

The Penn Global Seminar on “People of the Land: Indigeneity and Politics in Argentina” was a semester course that included one week of travel to Argentina, with trip components in Buenos Aires, Neuquén, Junín de los Andes, and Bariloche. Puentes worked closely with the course professor and the Penn Abroad team to design the travel itinerary, and Puentes was responsible for all logistics in Argentina, including housing in hotels, transportation by private bus, select group meals, city tour, and comprehensive 24/7 emergency and general student support.

Global immersion elective

with University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School

in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Montevideo, Uruguay

As conceptualized by the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School, the Global Immersion Elective in Argentina and Uruguay aimed to provide students with a practical grasp of the challenges and opportunities of operating businesses in emerging markets. The program invited students to critically examine how businesses in Argentina and Uruguay adapt and grow amidst significant economic and socio-political uncertainties. Key focus areas included the impacts of globalization, industrial and social policies, economic inequality, political polarization, and resource management challenges.

For UNC GIE in Argentina and Uruguay, Puentes coordinated business visits, housing in hotels, private transportation to all program activities, cultural activities, select group meals, and 24/7 emergency and general support.

Going to Argentina will forever leave a mark on me. Being able to fully integrate into the culture and lifestyle as well as work with a company I was passionate about is something I will never forget and cherish.
