Data Science Startup

The data science startup unifies statistics, data analysis, and machine learning to understand and analyze real phenomena and gain insights that help the decision-making process in different industries. They perform the necessary techniques to be a link between stakeholders, while working to understand an organization and then recommending solutions that allow the organization to achieve its objectives.

The company plans, builds, tests and iterates as quickly as possible. Many companies inevitably waste resources solving problems related to data, and many times they find that the result does not really contribute to the business. To avoid this, the startup practices the user-centered design process: plan, build, test, and iterate as quickly as possible. They know that goals become clear during the troubleshooting process, and they transition from fast, low-detail experiments to robust, higher-fidelity prototypes only as they learn more. They plan by doing, using small pieces of work to solve the most useful problems. In their experience, it is the only way to consistently produce truly transformative data science results.

Possible Intern Roles:

DATA SCIENCE INTERN

The intern will carry out projects that apply engineering software and programming languages, such as Python, to simulations, such as the performance of an automobile or plant machinery.  The intern will work with notebooks (like Jupyter notebook, Google Colab) and will carry out machine learning, including the following:

·       How to handle real data for a project

·       Select models for a certain project

·       Classification models

·       Regression models

·       Support Vector Machines

·       Decision Trees

·       Random Forests

·       K-Means software applications

Suggested Spanish level: No Spanish required
Candidate requirements: The intern should be an Engineering or Computer Science major. Strong technical skills and coding language knowledge are highly relevant.

In the words of past interns:

“I was given a chance to tailor my own project, which allowed me to take a challenge that was relevant to my interests and career path.” - Zandile S., Mechatronics, from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
